As usual January brought Holly Holy Day in Nantwich, listening to Forlorn Hope and calling a few dances from c.1650 with them, in the museum. And Burns night ceilidhs with Hi Jinks bands.
I called for a retirement party with Celtic Knot, two golden weddings with Hi Jinks, and at the Chester Festival Family dance with GEM. It is such fun when people of all ages get up and enjoy dancing. Some are complete beginners, though I notice that those attending Golden Weddings remember a bit (from schooldays?).
I call more challenging dances when it is my turn on the rota at Stockton Heath, Adlington and Hawk Green clubs interspersed with easier or familiar dances.
In between there has been dancing at regular club nights and occasional Saturday dances with some of my favourite bands and callers. Lichfield festival was a feast of dance and music and I'm just back from Whitby where the choice of dance and all sorts of folk was enormous. They are the highlights of my year.
Now looking forward to my next booking i.a.o Marple Scout Hut
